Local bird sightings week ending April 14

NOW FOR THE BIRDS!
Sightings from the GREEN POND area, Northampton County included:
Sandhill Crane - 1 on 4/9
Green-winged Teal - 46 on 4/7.
Also Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs and Wilson's Snipe.

Sightings from the TREXLER PARK and ZOO, Lehigh County included:
Barn Swallow.

Sightings from NORTH WHITEHALL TOWNSHIP, Lehigh County included:
Double-crested Cormorants - 8 on 4/7 (along Quarry Street)
Veery - 1 on 4/8 (intersection of Country Lane and Grist Mill Road)
Vesper Sparrow (along Cardinal Street).

Sightings from the FOGELSVILLE QUARRY, Lehigh County included:
Red-breasted Merganser - 1 on 4/8.

Sightings from WALKING PURCHASE PARK, Lehigh County included:
Barn Swallow.

Sightings from PEACE VALLEY PARK, Bucks County included:
Spotted Sandpiper - 1 on 4/6.
Also Bald Eagle, Lesser Yellowlegs, Pectoral Sandpiper, Wilson's Snipe, Bonaparte's Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Purple Martin, Winter Wren, and Brown Thrasher.

Birds seen at several sites this past week included Osprey, Tree and Northern Rough-winged Swallow, Pine and Palm Warbler, and Eastern Towhee.
