Lehigh Valley bird sightings for January 31

Here are the Lehigh Valley bird sightings for the week ended January 31. The list was compiled by Dave DeReamus, of the Eastern PA Birdline, which is sponsored by the Lehigh Valley Audubon Society.

Graver's Hill, Northampton County
Lapland Longspur, 1 on January 26 and 2 from January 27 through January 29.
Snow Bunting, 2 from January 27 through January 29.
Also seen: Common Raven.

Lehigh Valley International Airport, Lehigh County
Snowy Owl, 1 through January 27 in the northeast sector of the airport.

Haafsville, Lehigh County
Ring-necked Pheasant, 1 on January 28.

Lake Muhlenberg, Lehigh County
Canvasback, 1 on January 26.
Also seen: Lesser Black-backed Gull.

Allentown, Lehigh County
Peregrine Falcon, 1 on January 27 at the PPL Building.

Alburtis, Lehigh County
Red-tailed Hawk (dark morph), 1 through January 25 on Smith Lane.

Gilbertsville, Montgomery County
Bullock's Oriole, 1 continues to be seen through January 29 along Oberholzer Road. (In previous years, the Bullock's Oriole has stayed in the area until the end of March.) Peace Valley Park, Bucks County
Red-headed Woodpecker, 1 continues to be seen near Angler's Pier.

Upper Black Eddy, Bucks County
Rusty Blackbird, 1 on January 26.
Also seen: Red-shouldered Hawk.

Merrill Creek Reservoir, New Jersey
Peregrine Falcon, 1 on January 26.

Bald Eagles were reported in several locations this week.
