For one week only, we're offering 25 percent off Droll Yankees' 13-inch Peanut Feeder and also 25 percent off Suet Nuggets. The Droll Yankees' Peanut Feeder is part of the company's New Generation line of feeders. The New Generation feeders are meant to last a lifetime. They feature zinc die-cast tops, bases, and ports or perches. The Peanut Feeder has a stainless steel, rust-proof mesh that enables chickadees, nuthatches, woodpeckers, wrens and tufted titmice to pick off bits of split peanuts or Suet Nuggets.
Squirrels won't be able to chew through the mesh to gobble food; instead they'll have to work for their meal by picking off individual pieces of treats through the mesh. At least that will slow them down! The top of the feeder has a snug-fitting sliding cap that is easy for you to lift but hard for squirrels to open. If you already have a squirrel baffle on your shepherd's hook or one hanging from a tree limb, you won't need to worry about these critters at all.
The feeder can be hung from a shepherd's hook or a tree limb. Droll Yankees also has an adapter to fit atop a pole system. The feeder is easy to clean. Merely remove the top assembly and use a brush to clean out any particles.
Also on sale at 25 percent off are bags of Suet Nuggets. The Nuggets are quarter-inch-size morsels of suet that will entice many different kinds of birds. They're great to use in the Droll Yankees' Peanut Feeder, either straight up or mixed with split peanuts. You may also choose to offer Suet Nuggets on platform or hopper feeders.
The Bird House offers three different varieties of Nuggets. This gives you choices on which types of birds that you'd like to attract to your backyard.
- Peanut Nuggets are ideal for woodpeckers, nuthatches, chickadees and wrens.
- Berry-flavored Nuggets, which include real blueberries and cherry flavoring, are preferred by mockingbirds, robins and bluebirds.
- Troubled by squirrels? Try Hot Pepper Nuggets. They contain a healthy dose of red chili pepper. Squirrels find them too spicy but the hot pepper doesn't bother birds. Songbirds don't have enough tastebuds to notice. You can even offer Hot Pepper Nuggets on ground-level platform feeders. A squirrel will take one bite and learn to leave the food alone. Woodpeckers, nuthatches, chickadees and wrens will love these morsels.
We don't recommend using Nuggets in standard tube feeders because the seed ports are too small and as a result, the openings tend to clog. But that's not the case with the Droll Yankees' Peanut Feeder. It has no ports. The mesh is meant for birds that peck. They'll remove as much of the morsel as they wish, leaving the rest available for the next customer.
The Peanut Feeder and the Suet Nuggets are a great way to offer your birds a wider choice of food—and maybe for you to enjoy a wider variety and number of birds. And right now, our sale price makes them an even more attractive choice!
