Black-capped Chickadee
The chilly weather this weekend is an ideal time to spend a few minutes at your window watching for birds that appear in your backyard.

The Great Backyard Bird Count is happening this weekend and continues through Monday, February 15.

Enroll online at birdcount.orgTake 15 minutes to count the number and species of birds you see. Then use the online checklist to enter your sightings. You can participate either with a regular computer or laptop, or use the eBird app on an IOS or Android device.

The Great Backyard Bird Count is fun. But it also provide data that is used in scientific research studies on the well-being of birds across the hemisphere. Those studies have shown, for instance, that the location and numbers of some species places them at risk from global climate change.
