New Product: 'Living on the Wind'

Every moment of this day, birds are aloft in the skies of the Western Hemisphere as part of their spring migration. Author Scott Weidensaul captures the richness of the phenomenon in Living on the Wind, which is now available at The Bird House in the softcover edition.

The book, a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize, follows kettles of hawks over the Mexican coastal plain and the "Gulf Express" of songbirds bound for breeding grounds up north. The elaborate global web of migration paths has begun showing signs of fraying. Weidensaul examines the problems migrating species face as a result of habitat degradation and deforestation.

Weidensaul began his writing career at his local newspaper in Schuylkill County and has since written more than two dozen books, the most recent being the Peterson Reference Guide to Owls of North America and the Caribbean, which was published last year. This book also is available at The Bird House.
