Lehigh Valley bird sightings for May 10

Here are bird sightings from the greater Lehigh Valley area for the week ended May 10. The list was compiled by Dave DeReamus, of the Eastern PA Birdline. The project is sponsored by the Lehigh Valley Audubon Society.

Martins Creek, Northampton County
Willet - 1 seen on May 8. Also, Greater Yellowlegs


Plainfield Township, Northampton County
Bobolink - 8 on May 9 along Weiss Road

Nazareth, Northampton County
Peregrine Falcon - 1 on May 9

Lower Nazareth Township, Northampton County
At the Gremar Road retention ponds: Cattle Egret, 1 from May 1 to May 3.
Along Christian Springs Road: Lesser Yellowlegs, and Solitary and Least sandpipers 

Palmer Township, Northampton County
Great Crested Flycatcher

Bethlehem, Northampton County
Peregrine Falcon - 1 on May 6. Also, American Black Duck

East Allen Township, Northampton County
Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Veery, White-crowned Sparrow and Bobolink

Moore Township, Northampton County
Peregrine Falcon - 2 on May 9. Also, Blackburnian Warbler

Kunkletown, Monroe County
Red Crossbill, 1 on May 44 (fly-by)

Trachsville area, Carbon County
Harris's Sparrow, 1 on May 4 (the bird first found on January 1 is now in full adult plumage)

Peace Valley Park, Bucks County
Yellow-crowned Night Hero - 1 on May 5; Red-throated Loon - 1 on May 8. Also, White-eyed Vireo, and Hooded and Worm-eating warblers

Other new arrivals in the Lehigh Valley included Wood Thrush, Indigo Bunting and several kinds of warblers (Black-throated Blue, Black-throated Green and Common Yellowthroat). Also, Bald Eagle was seen at several sites this past week
