Lehigh Valley bird sightings for October 10

Here are Lehigh Valley bird sightings for the week ended October 10. The list was compiled by Dave DeReamus, of the Eastern PA Birdline, which is sponsored by the Lehigh Valley Audubon Society.

Orange-crowned Warbler

Jacobsburg State Park, Northampton County
Lesser Black-backed Gull, 30 fly-bys on October 2
Connecticut Warbler, 2 on October 2
Orange-crowned Warbler, 1 on September 30
Also seen: White-eyed Vireo, and White-crowned and Lincoln's sparrows

Williams Township, Northampton County
Orange-crowned Warbler, 1 on October 5

Moore Township, Northampton County
Sandhill Crane, 1 fly-by on September 28

Bake Oven Knob, Lehigh County
Sharp-shinned Hawk, 203 on October 3
Golden Eagle, 1 on October 9
Peregrine Falcon, 3 on October 1
Also seen: Common Raven

Peace Valley Park, Bucks County
Gray-cheeked Thrush, 1 back on September 26 and 27
Also seen: Blue-winged Teal, Hooded Merganser, Solitary and Spotted sandpipers, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Yellow-billed Cuckoo and Lincoln's Sparrow

Merrill Creek Reservoir, New Jersey, at Scotts Mountain Hawkwatch
Bald Eagle, 8 on October 8, and 7 on October 9
Northern Goshawk, 1 on October 8
Merlin, 7 on October 2
Peregrine Falcon, 5 on October 2
Rusty Blackbird, 2 on October 5

Birds seen at various sites throughout the region during the past two weeks include Swainson's and Wood thrushes, White-throated Sparrow and Dark-eyed Junco.
