Lehigh Valley bird sightings for January 25

Snowy Owls are showing up with increased frequency in the Lehigh Valley. In the week ended January 5, sightings were reported in five different locations, ranging from the Easton suburbs in the east to Fogelsville in the west.

Ever since the first Snowy Owl was seen on November 29 on Commerce Center Boulevard in Northampton County's Hanover Township, a total of 12 sightings were reported to the Eastern PA Birdline, a project of the Lehigh Valley Audubon Society.

Here are the latest sightings, along with those of other birds. The list was compiled by Dave DeReamus, of the Eastern PA Birdline.

Cackling Goose,1 on January 18.

Ross's Goose, 1 through at least January 19 along Quarry Road.

Red-headed Woodpecker, 1 continuing to be seen around Angler's Pier.

Redhead, 11 on January 19.

Cherry Valley, Monroe County

White-winged Scoter, 1 on January 20.

Bald Eagles were reported at several sites this past week.
