Speaker will discuss bird reproduction

George Armistead, the events coordinator for the American Birding Association, will discuss "The Birds and 'the Birds and the Bees'" at a program on Tuesday, September 23, at Peace Valley Nature Center in Bucks County.

The program will focus on various reproductive strategies in birds and the birds' behaviors, with, as the sponsor quips, "copious innuendo and anthropomorphism to keep the concepts in perspective."

The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the nature center, which is located at 170 North Chapman Road north of Doylestown. From Route 309 in Quakertown, turn left onto Route 313 and head toward Dublin. About 2.5 miles southeast of Dublin, turn right onto New Galena Road, then left onto North Chapman Road. A map is posted on Peace Valley Park's website. Enter the nature center's building through the back side door.

Armistead, a writer who has guided birding tours on all seven continents, is a research associate at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia.
