Lehigh Valley bird sightings


Dave DeReamus of the Eastern PA Birdline, a project sponsored by the Lehigh Valley Audubon Society, compiled the following list of bird sightings for the reporting period that ended August 23.

Mourning Warbler, 1 on August 10

Bethlehem Township, Northampton County
Baird’s Sandpiper, 1 on August 18 at Bethman and Church Roads

East Allen Township, Northampton County
Mourning Warbler, 1 on August 21

Bake Oven Knob, Lehigh County
Merlin, 2 on August 17
Also Common Raven

Trexlertown, Lehigh County
Sandhill Crane, 1 on August 15 near Rodale Park

Haycock Mountain on State Game Land 157, Bucks County
Yellow-Bellied Flycatcher, 1 on August 16
Olive-sided Flycatcher, 1 on August 16

Perkasie, Bucks County
Red-necked Phalarope, 1 on August 16 at Willard Markey Centennial Park

Green Lane Reservoir, Montgomery County
Caspian Terns, 6 on August 10 at the Church Road area

Peace Valley Park, Bucks County
Black-crowned Night Heron 1 on August 13 and 14
Short-billed Dowitchers, 15 to 20 on August 11 (fly-by’s)
Also Canada and Blackburnian warblers
