Friday: gardening for birds and butterflies

Spring is just 10 days away! Join Barbara Malt on Friday evening as she explains natural gardening practices and techniques to benefit birds and butterflies in your backyard.

The program, which is sponsored by the Lehigh Valley Audubon Society, will take place at 7 o'clock Friday evening at the Wildlands Conservancy Education Center Building, 3701 Orchard Place in Emmaus. The program is part of the Audubon Society's monthly meeting but everyone is welcome to attend.

Ms. Malt is vice president of the Lehigh Valley Audubon Society and co-author of Birds of the Lehigh Valley and Vicinity, the must-have guidebook for bird watchers in the region.

The Wildlands Conservancy is located between Allentown and Emmaus. From Route 29, turn onto Riverbend Road and proceed 0.8 mile, then turn at the first right onto Orchard Place. Continue another 0.3 mile down a hill. At the small bridge, turn right and cross into the Sanctuary. The Education Center is situated behind the barn. You'll find the main parking lot toward the left of the bridge; parking for people with disabilities is available next to the Education Center.

For information, call 610-965-4397 or visit the Wildlands Conservancy's website.
