Lehigh Valley bird sightings for week of March 27

Pine Warbler
Migration season continues in the Lehigh Valley with the arrival of several species. Others, such as the American Robin, have increased in numbers now that the days are getting longer and spring is finally here.

A Pine Warbler, a Northern Rough-winged Swallow, an Eastern Phoebe, a Double-crested Cormorant, an American Pipit and an Eastern Meadowlark made appearances within the week ended March 27. The Brown Thrasher, seen infrequently during the winter, was reported in two different locations.

Meanwhile, several species of waterfowl are getting ready to head north to their breeding grounds in Canada. Still being seen are Redheads, Ross's Geese, Snow Geese, Cackling Geese, Canvasbacks and Red-breasted Mergansers.

That said, here is the complete list of bird sightings for the past week. The list was compiled by Dave DeReamus, of the Eastern PA Birdline, which is sponsored by the Lehigh Valley Audubon Society.
