Lehigh Valley bird sightings for April 5

Here are the Lehigh Valley bird sightings for the week ending April 5. The list was provided by Dave DeReamus, of the Eastern PA Birdline, which is sponsored by the Lehigh Valley Audubon Society.

Hellertown area, Northampton County

Yellow-Throated Warbler

Cackling Goose, 1 seen on March 29

Housenick Park, Northampton County

Palm Warbler

Bethlehem, Lehigh County

Peregrine Falcon, 1 seen on April 4

Trachsville, Carbon County
Harris's Sparrow, 1 seen on March 29

Bake Oven Knob, Lehigh County

Rusty Blackbird, 1 seen on March 30

Dorney Park, Allentown
Redhead, 1 seen on April 4

Peace Valley Park, Bucks County
Red-Throated Loon, 1 seen on March 30
Red-breasted Merganser, 42 seen on March 26
Ruddy Duck, 43 seen on March 30
Also seen: Double-crested Cormorant, Osprey, Bald Eagle, Red-shouldered Hawk,
Merlin, Red-breasted Nuthatch, American Pipit and Yellow-rumped Warbler.


Eastern Phoebe and Tree Swallow were seen at several sites during the week.

The next meeting of the Lehigh Valley Audubon Society is scheduled for April 12 at 7 p.m. at the Wildlife Conservancy in Emmaus. Barbara Malt will discuss "Gardening for Migration."
